Our club donated $500 towards new shoes for the children. The Sandra Lee Centre is an orphanage for abandoned children in Mbabane, Swaziland. There usually are few shoes for the children. They often have to resort to sharing shoes for their growing feet. A brand new pair of shoes brings much joy and happiness. Happy Bucks! Lynne Kline Lynn was happy for vacation. Coleen was happy for Michael’s ten surgerized toes. David was happy for Fiddler on the Roof. Sharon was happy for her Seahawks. Hal was happy for St. Jude’s fundraiser. Becky was happy for the Share the Road Bike ride. Bob was happy for Las Vegas. Allan was happy for his son’s driving and shopping for his daughter’s wedding dress. John was happy for the Dodgers and elk hunting. Sharon was happy to have more granddaughters. Kate was happy for Fiddler and Mike’s pretty shoes. Tristan was happy for his guest Kim and speaker Doug. Lew was happy for his guest Andy. Doug was happy Allan’s son took out a drunk driver. Virginia was happy for Skip, Dee Dee, Michael and the district conference. Doug Ridley This week we had a guest from a galaxy far, far away. Stormtrooper Doug Ridley showed us how Star Wars saves the world. Doug is a criminal defense attorney and a member of the 501st Legion. The Legion is a worldwide organization for the Star Wars Empire. The local garrison is based in San Diego with detachments in Channel Islands. Doug’s costume is accurate per George Lucas films and cost over $1000 in just materials! The 501st Legion’s appearance has enhanced numerous charitable events including Relay for Life and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. John announced the Free Clinic Expo and Tooth Fairy Run is on October 17th at 8am at the Town Center. Sharon announced the Youth Empowerment Summit meeting will be November 7 at 9am at the Platinum Center. Deb and Pete are taking sign ups for the Pancake Breakfast on October 24th at 7am at the Senior Center. Anil is organizing the next NID in February. The Platinum Center is hosting a gymnastic event on October 17 and 18. The Moorpark Morning Club is offering 2 tickets for the price of 1 ticket.
