Clinton got out of the inning when reliever Tommy Burns got Michael Schulze to line into a double play to first base. Chiefs Score First: 12-4 Opp. Score First: 7-11 HERE COME THE KINGS: Kaminsky departed in the fifth with two on base by Jhonny Polanco escaped the jam with a pop up and Comeback Wins: 9 strikeout. The Chiefs committed three errors in the sixth and Polanco allowed three hits as Clinton got to within a run at 6-5. Chase Lead Entering 8th: 16-0 Brookshire took over mid-inning and got out of the inning with a strikeout. In the eighth, Clinton got a single from Ian Miller and a stolen Tied Entering 8th: 3-0 base against Zach Loraine. Jack Reinheimer singled home Miller to tie the game with two outs. Trail Entering 8th: 0-15 Lead Entering 9th: 17-0 th Tied Entering 9th: 2-1 CASTILLO DELIVERS: Clinton’s closer Emilio Pagan took over in the top of the 11 with the game tied 6-6. McElroy led off with an Trail Entering 9th: 0-14 infield single and Herrera worked a walk. Kelly singled to left to load the bases and Castillo put the Chiefs on top 8-6 with a double off the Wins in last AB: 2 left-field wall. Pagan got back-to-back strikeouts before Rafael Pineda escaped the inning. Brookshire allowed one Two-run games 3-5 hit on two strikeouts over 1 1/3 shutout innings. Loraine allowed one run on two hits and two walks over two innings with three strikeouts. Scoring 4 or less: 7-12 Kevin Herget (2-1) retired all three batters he faced with two strikeouts to earn the win. Thomas got the save with one shutout inning, one hit Scoring 5 or more: 12-2 allowed and two strikeouts. Before this season they were with the LA Angels since 1993. As a MWL team, Cedar Rapids has also been affiliated with the 5/11 OFF Braves (1962), Cardinals (1963-1972), Astros (1974-75), Giants (1976-79) and Reds (1980-1992). All-tim e the Chiefs are 183-206 against 5/12 @ CR Cedar Rapids in the regular season and 2-2 in the post-season. The Chiefs are 188-168 all-time against Twins affiliates. Peoria has also faced 5/12 @ CR 5/13 @ CR Twins teams in Kenosha (1984-92), Fort Wayne (1993-98), Quad Cities (1999-2004) and Beloit (2005-12). 5/14 @ CR 5/15 WIS SEASON SERIES: The Chiefs lead the 2014 series 4-2 with 10 games left times this season, four in Peoria. Peoria travels to Iowa August 5/16 WIS 15-17 while the Kernels return to Peoria June 24-26. Last season the Chiefs were 7-13 against Cedar Rapids after starting the season 7-4 the 5/17 WIS 5/18 WIS Chiefs lost the last nine including August four-game sweeps in each city. In 2012 Peoria won the season series 10-7 with an 8-3 mark in 5/19 CLI Illinois. In 2011 the Kernels won the season series 11-8 with a four-game home sweep in August. 5/20 CLI 5/21 CLI 5/22 @ BUR SWEEP HISTORY: The Chiefs earned a sweep in Peoria April 21-23 which marks the third straight series between these teams to be a 5/23 @ BUR sweep and the fifth in the last two seasons. The Chiefs have a sweep against Cedar Rapids in three straight seasons . Before the final series of 5/24 @ BUR the 2013 first half, the Chiefs had not earned a sweep in Cedar Rapids since July 7-9, 2007. The Kernels swept the Chiefs last August in both 5/25 @ KC Peoria and Iowa. The sweep in Peoria was their first since June of 2004. The Kernels swept the Chiefs June 29-July 1 for their second sweep 5/26 @ KC 5/27 @ KC of the Chiefs in Iowa in as many seasons. Cedar Rapids also swept the Chiefs out of the 2009 playoffs winning once in each park while Peoria 5/28 BUR did the exact same to Cedar Rapids in the 2002 Western Division Finals 5/29 BUR 5/30 BUR OPPOSING STARTER: RH Ethan Mildren is making his fifth start of the 2014 season against the Chiefs today. In his last start, Mildren 5/31 KC gave up two runs, one earned, on four hits, struck out two, and walkedone in six innings of work.
