Annual Report of giving 2018-2019 + Deceased CANTERBURY SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 Dear Canterbury School Community, In the spirit of deep gratitude, I am pleased to present Canterbury School’s Annual Report of Giving, a tribute to the thousands of alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends whose generosity makes it possible for our School to sustain the highest standards of excellence for our students. In the 2018-2019 fiscal year, Canterbury once again benefited from extraordinary fundrais- ing results, leaving our institution positioned for success in this year and beyond. Altogeth- er, new gifts and pledges totaled more than $10.8 million, directly supporting our students, faculty, and our vital mission of preparing young men and women to lead lives of humanity and purpose. Through truly transformative philanthropy, Mission & Momentum: The Campaign for Canter- bury reached $74 million toward our $90 million goal. We opened the 2018-2019 school year with a newly-renovated Maguire Auditorium, which was funded entirely through the generosity of donors. We received an extraordinary commitment of $1 million to name the M. & D. D’Amour Center for Faith, Service & Justice. We garnered the support and affirmation of 81 donors who, within one year of announcing our $17 million Hilltop Projects, committed more than 90 percent of funding for the new Steers Center. Additionally, new gifts and pledges to our Endowment exceeded $460,000, evidence of the far-sighted dedication of our donors who invest in Canterbury’s future As you know, the Annual Fund remains Canterbury’s highest priority and most essential yearly fundraising effort. The 2018- 2019 Annual Fund raised a collective $1.4 million for the School’s operating budget, boasting a record 13 percent increase over the previous year and realizing increased participation across every constituency. Our gratitude for this broadening com- munity of donors cannot be overstated, for they are providing steady, renewable, and increased support for our mission and are deepening the culture of philanthropy at our School—perhaps the most critical components to our vibrant financial future. Beyond the dollars raised, these achievements would not have been possible without the steadfast leadership of our Board of Trustees, as well as the volunteerism of dedicated alumni and parents who hosted events, led Reunion efforts, and made calls on our behalf. We are indebted to their generosity of spirit and service and inspired by their extraordinary engagement with our School. Again, we humbly recognize the names on the pages that follow. We thank you all for the foresight of your investments, the loyalty expressed by your steady support, and the enthusiasm that we all share for this remarkable school. Gratefully, Rachel E. Stone Head of School CANTERBURY SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 LEADERSHIP DONORS We gratefully acknowledge the following alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, friends, and organizations for their generous support of Canterbury School’s annual, capital, restricted, and endowed funds during the 2018-2019 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019). We make every effort to ensure the accuracy of this report; however, if there is an error or omission, please accept our apologies and advise the Advancement Office of the correction.
