Some of these students will have the opportunity for paid summer internships and with the help of the California Homebuilding Foundation, BITA, www.cccoe.k12.ca.us/rop we hope to expand this program to other schools next school year. We work on many varied projects that hold us to high standards on and off campus. These opportunities broaden our horizons and give us an idea of what career we want in the future. One opportunity presented to us, which ties into our third year engineering class ROP Civil Engineering and Architecture, is volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Both of the times that I have volunteered, I have learned so much about architecture and the fundamentals that go into building a residential home; not only designing the house but the construction and constraints to a house. I was able to help with the installation of windows; I never knew how hard that would be. It was both time consuming and exhausting. After the windows installation, I helped with the weather proofing and I learned that a lot goes into the siding of a house that makes it dependable and safe. On my second day of
