Cowboys & Culture Known As the City Where the West Begins, Fort Worth Is the Only City Where You Can See a Real Cattle Drive

Cowboys & Culture Known as the city where the west begins, Fort Worth is the only city where you can see a real cattle drive with cowboys and then the only Michaelangelo in the Western Hemisphere. Day 1: Cultural Hot spots and City Architecture Downtown Fort Worth is recognized as one of the cleanest, most walkable urban centers in the nation. A central plaza in Sundance Square, named for the notorious 19th century visitor, the Sundance Kid, features cafes, restaurants and fountains in the heart of the city. Explore 40 continuous blocks of shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and performing arts. See the angel sculptures adorning Bass Performance Hall, one of the top 10 opera houses in the world, the remarkable western art at the Sid Richardson Museum. Walk around the Fort Worth Water Gardens, an urban park designed by Philip Johnson next to the Fort Worth Convention Center. After touring downtown, head to the world-renowned Cultural District where you will find five blocks with five museums, each designed by an internationally renowned architect: National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Take your pick or visit them all! Day 2: Where the West Begins No visit to Fort Worth is complete without a stop at the Stockyards National Historic District. Celebrate true Western heritage by watching The Fort Worth Herd, the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive, at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Shop for western keepsakes, including boots and hats, along Exchange Avenue. Grab your seat at the saddle bar at H3 Ranch, adjacent to the Stockyards Hotel, where famed outlaws Bonnie and Clyde once stayed. In the evening enjoy a steak, BBQ or Tex-Mex dinner in the Stockyards followed by entertainment at Billy Bob’s Texas, the world’s largest honky-tonk, or at the legendary White Elephant Saloon. Catch the Stockyards Championship Rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights at Cowtown Coliseum. .
