Heathland is a rare and valuable habitat once far more common in the High Weald. Fallen birch and colonising trees are removed from under the powerlines, whilst some old pines, valued as perches for birds, are retained. </p><p>Pedal-Power! </p><p><strong>Ride Tilgate </strong>is a pay to </p><p>ride scheme working with the Forestry Commission and CTC. An area has been leased for downhill mountain biking. For more information go to </p><p>Saddle-Up! </p><p><strong>TROT </strong>is a non-profit charity working with the Forestry Commission on behalf of local horse riders.
