First Prize Western Railway, Ahmedabad Division Sector: Railway Palanpur Station, Palanpur (Gujarat) Stations Unit Profile: Palanpur Station is a major Rail head and administrative headquarters of Banaskantha district of Gujarat. This station is situated on the main Rajdhani route of Delhi – Ahmedabad & Ahmedabad – Mumbai, with stoppage of more than 60 pairs of train daily. It is also a major interchange point for North bound goods traffic originating from various ports of State of Gujarat around Gandhidham area. With six nos. of passenger platforms, it is categorized as ‘A’ class station. Power supply for the station is fed from UGVCL with one 11 KV, 3 phase AC HT supply point and through Railway’s own 415 volt, 3 phase LT supply network. The contract demand of Palanpur Station is 130 KVA. Brief Description of the major Energy Conservation Actions: 1. Replacement of T-12 TFLs with LED lighting fixtures 2. Use of CFL fittings in staircase, toilets and bath rooms 3. Use of automatic power factor corrector in HT/LT substation 4. Use of electronic ballasts in place of conventional ballasts 5. Use of electronic fan regulator in place of conventional fan regulator 6. Provision of LED based station name board in place of neon board 7. Timer switch on tower lights 8. Replacement of old inefficient pumps with energy efficient pumps 9. Replacement of conventional kWh meters with electronic kWh meter 10. Energy saver used for pumps, AC circuits & lighting circuits. 11. Installation of Occupancy sensors in chambers, waiting halls 12.
