But unlike Tuscany, you won't find busloads of tourists in Irpinia. The food is local, authentic. July is hot in Southern Italy, but not in Irpinia which enjoys much cooler, drier summers due to the high elevation. This 7-night, 8-day food and wine tour includes visits to fine dining restaurants, local, Slow Food restaurants, wine tastings with some of Italy's most prestigious wine makers and visits to ancient sites including Aeclanum and Herculaneum. YOUR HOST Traveling with you is Christian Galliani, co-founder of Feast On History. Christian is a sommelier and writer who worked on the wine team at Del Posto and served as lead sommelier at Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich's Tarry Lodge. He is an expert on Irpinian wine and loves to personally introduce guests to his favorite winemakers including Salvatore Molettieri and Luigi Moio. There are 10 spots left for this tour. We hope you will join us in the most special, private and beautiful corner of Italy. W W W . F E A S T O N H I S T O R Y . We let you sleep late and craft each day to have a nice balance of relaxing and sightseeing. -You don't speak Italian, but would still like to get to know real Italians. You're in the care of our Italian family who will treat you as family. -You don't want to deal with driving or train schedules. We have our own driver for the week so you don't have to worry about figuring out how to get to all these off-the-beaten path places or drive along mountain or coastal roads. -You want to eat and drink the very best, most local thing in every place you go, but don't have the time to spend months researching food blogs to figure it all out.
