What were the effects of the Belfast Blitz? It was the beginning of 2 months of nightly bombing raids. This extended to Liverpool, Coventry and Glasgow. By March 1941 over 28,000 people had been killed. Why did Germany carry out this bombing campaign? 2 main reasons: 1) To disrupt war effort 2) To break the morale of the civilian population (withdraw from war) In 1941 Belfast was targeted by over 150 Luftwaffe bombers.
