For more detailed information on how to use the Web Server, see Nokia Mobile Web Server User Guide. The Web Server enables you to do the following: • Create your own mobile web pages • Create blogs to your web pages using a mobile device or a computer (web browser) • Chat with web users who visit your mobile site • Share content (for example, pictures) through your mobile device • Share your mobile device calendar • Share your presence information When installed on a mobile device, the Web Server enables the device to host globally accessible websites. Your Web Server has its own unique mobile site, which you receive when you register a new Web Server account. Web users can access your mobile content on the internet through the mobile site. 4 GET STARTED GET STARTED Getting started with the Web Server is easy. Register a Web Server account, and you are ready to host a website on your mobile device. Prerequisites To use the Web Server, you need the following: • Web Server account • Web Server software • Compatible mobile device with an internet connection Register Web Server account Before you can start using the Web Server service, you must register a Web Server account at the Web Server Portal. To register a Web Server account, do the following: 1. Go to Portal at http://mymobilesite.net. 2. Click Register, fill in the registration form, accept the service terms, and click Submit registration. Note: Define your user name carefully. The user name forms the first part of your mobile site name: http://<user_name>.mymobilesite.net, and you cannot change the user name and site name after the registration. 3. When you receive a registration confirmation e-mail message to your e-mail address, click the link in the e-mail message, or copy it to your web browser. 5 GET STARTED Download and install Web Server After you register a Web Server account, download the Web Server software from Portal, and install it to your mobile device. The Web Server software is distributed as a SIS file. To download the file, use your mobile device browser or a computer browser. If you use your mobile device browser, the installation starts automatically. If you use a computer browser, see your mobile device user guide for instructions on how to install the SIS file in your device. To install the Web Server, do the following: 1. After you start the installation, select Yes at the Install Web Server? prompt. 2. If you have a memory card in your mobile device, select where to install the application: device memory or memory card. 3. When the device displays notifications regarding the installation, select Continue. (If you are installing on top of an existing installation, select OK.) 4. To accept the end user software agreement, select OK. The device displays a progress bar indicating the installation status. When the installation is complete, the installer closes automatically and the Web Server starts for the first time. For more information, see Section “FIRST LAUNCH”. 6 FIRST LAUNCH FIRST LAUNCH When you have installed the Web Server, it automatically starts. During the first launch of the Web Server, the application runs a wizard where you must define the following: • Login name: Enter the user name that you defined during the registration at Portal. • Password: Enter the password that you defined during the registration at Portal. • Server Access Policy: Define if you want to allow public access to your mobile site. To allow public access to your mobile site, select Options > Select. • If you want to personalise the appearance of your web site, select Options > Select > Open front page. • Internet Access Point (IAP): Define the network interface and its connection parameters. 7 START AND STOP WEB SERVER START AND STOP WEB SERVER Before you can use the Web Server, you must complete the initial wizard. For more information, see Section “FIRST LAUNCH”. Start Web Server You can start the Web Server either by connecting to the internet, or locally without connecting to the Web Server gateway. If you connect to the internet, web users can browse to your mobile site. If you start the Web Server locally, web users cannot access your mobile site. Web users cannot access any content on your website before you have granted access rights for them. For more information, see Nokia Mobile Web Server User Guide. Note: Keeping the Web Server running and allowing web users to access it causes data traffic to your mobile device through your service provider's network. Contact your service provider for information about data transmission charges. To start the Web Server, select Menu > My own > Web Server > Options > Start server and from the following: • If you are connecting to the internet, select an internet access point. • If you are connecting locally, to establish a network connection, select Yes and an internet access point. • If you have changed the default connection type setting to Always ask, select the connection type Internet or Local, and to establish a network connection, select Yes and an internet access point. When the Web Server is started, the connection information text is changed to Running or Running locally, depending on the selected connection type. If you start the Web Server locally, to access your home page later, select Options > View in browser or enter the address http://127.0.0.1 in your device browser. 8 START AND STOP WEB SERVER Stop Web Server To stop the Web Server, select Options > Stop server. The server is stopped and the possible network connection is disconnected. 9 CREATE CONTENT AND PROVIDE ACCESS RIGHTS CREATE CONTENT AND PROVIDE ACCESS RIGHTS After you register a Web Server account and start the Web Server, you can begin to create content in the Web Server and grant web users access to it. For example, you can add new blog entries using the Web Server in your mobile device (Menu > Messag. > New message > Blog entry), or on your Web Server mobile site (Blog > New entry). To grant web users access to your blog entries, create Web Server users using your Web Server application and Contacts list. On your mobile site, grant the users access rights to your blog. To create a Web Server user with access to your blog, do the following: 1. In the Web Server application, select Users > Options > Add new user and a contact from the Contacts list. 2. Enter the Web Server user name and password for the new user, and select if an invitation message is sent to the new user. 3. In a computer browser, log in to your mobile site, click Blog > Change access rights, and define a suitable level of access rights for the user. The user can now log in to your Web Server mobile site and view your blog entries. Tip: If you do not want to manage access rights individually, you can create, for example, a Friends group and grant it access to a set of Web Server services on your mobile site. Then you can easily modify the access rights of the whole group, and provide access to individual users by adding them to the Friends group in your mobile device Contacts. If you want to allow anonymous access to your blog, grant anonymous access rights to your blog in your mobile site, and turn off connection filtering in the Web Server application settings. 10 .
