Charbagh which literally translates into four Gardens was indeed a sprawling fruit orchard before the foundation for the station complex was laid in British India. Its deep maroon and cream façade is an architectural delight though the crowds milling around this extremely busy passenger station, rarely stop to admire the domes and the magnificence of the station building. The Director's Desk focuses on safety issues in Indian Railways and has rich data on inter modal comparisons and international statistics on train accidents. In this issue we have tried to enliven the information provided under the Smart Living Smart Thinking Column and another feature on newsworthy items trending in India relating to rail travel.
