East and West Looe Valleys Trail Liskeard to St Keyne Photo by Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership Route Description This section of the East Looe Valley Trail travels south from Liskeard town towards St Keyne Station, utilising both existing quiet lanes and some new traffic free sections. Key Issues and Opportunities Route x Options east and west of the river, railway and former canal as traffic free sections. x 2 options for the Moorswater to Liskeard section via either: Venslooe Hill and Old Park; Photo by Ian Foster or alongside New Road. Environment x A diverse, intimate and rich farmed landscape with ancient woodland, marshy grasslands and ponds. x Ancient woodland County Wildlife site to east of the railway north of Trussel Bridge. Moorswater x Protected bat species use the Viaduct historic buildings, structures and trees and forage extensively along the valley. x River and watercourse with veteran trees, woodland and scrub. Otters use the river corridor. x Enhancement opportunities include managing the grasslands, wetlands and woodlands.
