Title: Map Work Related to Russia Overview: This lesson is for students to: • locate physical and political features on a map Lesson Focus: • Location and region themes of geography as they relate to Russia Materials: • map of Russia for each student • overhead map of Russia • teacher created list of physical and political features of Russia • discussion questions What to Do: 1. Students are to label their maps using class atlases, classroom maps, possible text and classroom books. 2. Teacher uses overhead map of Russia to point out specific areas. 3. After labeling maps, students should reflect on the questions. Whole class or small group discussion may take place (see discussion questions).
