SMU MEADOWS SCHOOL OF THE ARTS PRESENTS FACULTY PIANO RECITAL Liudmila Georgievskaya , Piano Tuesday, January 26, 2021 CARUTH AUDITORIUM 7:30PM PROGRAM Artist Bio Hailed for her “absolute art, technique, and musicality” by Scherzo Magazine (Spain) and “a sharp, inquisitive mind shaping the performance” by The Guardian (UK), Dr. Liudmila Georgievskaya has performed as a Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Op. 44 Frédéric Chopin recitalist in Russia, Italy, Uzbekistan, Ukrain e, France, Netherlands, Ballade No. 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47 (1810-1849) England, Hungary, Panama, and the United States. Winner of top prizes in more than a dozen national and international piano competitions, her performances have been broadcast on radio and television programs in Russia, the United States, Uzbekistan, Italy, and Vatican City. She appeared as soloist with the Dubna Symphony Orchestra (Russia), Turkeston Symphony Orchestra (Uzbekistan), National Symphony Orchestra of Barcarolle, Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka Uzbekistan, and with some American orchestras including Meadows from A Greeting to My Native Land (1804-1857) Symphony Orchestra, Las Colinas Symphony, Garland Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Arlington, UNT Concert Orchestra, Meadows Chamber Symphony, and Concert Artists of Baltimore. Her solo CD with music by Beethoven and Schumann (Odradek Records, 2013) was received enthusiastically by the international press and won two Global Music Awards. Active also as chamber musician, she is a member of Voices of Dumka, Scéne rustique russe, Op. 59 Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Change, one of the most distinguished new music ensembles in the United States. She often performs in piano duos with her husband Thomas Schwan (1840-1893) and with her sister Olga Georgievskaya. An inheritor of the Russian piano school, she studied in Moscow with Tatiana Galitskaya and Liudmila Roschina, both former students of the legendary Russian pianist and composer Samuil Feinberg, Alexander Goldenweiser’s pupil and disciple. She graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory cum L'isle joyeuse, L. 106 Claude Debussy laude. She also completed her post-graduate studies with Sergio Perticaroli (1862-1918) at the Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome (Italy), followed by the Artist Certificate at Southern Methodist University with Joaquín Achúcarro and the Doctorate in Piano Performance at the University of North Texas with Dr. Pamela Mia Paul. She is currently on music faculty at Southern Methodist University and on the piano faculty at the University of North Texas and has been giving masterclasses worldwide. .
