Love for God is natural 110 4 Sahib Bandgi A few words Jehi khojat kalpo bhaye, ghathi mahin so moor. Badi garab guman te, ta te pari geyo dhoor. He, whom we are in search in the external worlds, resides within us. We can attain God by the grace of Satguru alone. The path the worldly people have chosen for attaining salvation is related to Mind- Mind. Some are making a search for God in the forests; some through austerities, some through the practice of hard yoga while others are seeking by visiting the holy places. Sahib cautions us— Kasturi kundal basey, mrig khoje bann mahin. Aise ghat ghat saiyan, moorakh janat nahin. The musk deer has musk in its navel but, out of ignorance, it makes a search for it, in the forest. Likewise, God is present within every man though the ignorant persons do not know of it. The deer makes a search for musk by smelling every herb. It thinks that the fragrance is coming from outside. It spends its whole life in this vain attempt but fails to know that the fragrance is coming from within its own self. Likewise, man tries to make search for God in the outside world. Kabir Sahib says— Lakhon ner talash mein, Ghar mila na avinashi ka. Lakhs of people are making a search but none has succeeded in knowing His abode. Though many persons are making a search of God in the outer world, yet many others make a search for Him within themselves. Among those who are making a search for God within them, some wander in Bunk Naal, some in Bhanwar Gufa while others try to search Him through the practice of different Satguru Bhakti–Uniqueness 5 yogic postures like Unmuni, Khechri, Bhoochri etc. Some raise their eyes towards Shunya- Akash and pray to God saying, “O God! Listen to my prayer. Sahib has beautifully said— Mo ko kahan dhoondhe re bandey, main to tere pass mein. O Man! where are you making a search of me? I am very much in you. Na main jall mein, na main thall mein. Nehin shunya akash mein. Neither I reside in water or the earth nor in Shunya (nothingness). Na teerath mein na moorat mein, Na ekant nivas mein. I am not to be found in any religious place or idol. Also, I cannot be found in any lonely place. Na mandir na masjid mein, na Kashi kailash mein. I am not to be found in temple, mosque, Kashi and Kailash even. Some go to the mountains to make a search of Him but He is not to be found there as well. Na main japp mein, na main tapp mein, Na main bratt upvas mein. None can find me through recitation of Mantras (sacred words), hard worship or through observing of fasts even. Many poor people receive that which is much less than the normal one for man. In that case, they should find it easy to attain God. However, it is certainly not so. Na main kriya karam mein rahta, Nehin yog sanyas mein. None can attain me through the performance of Karmas (deeds), practice of yog or through renunciation of world even. 6 Sahib Bandgi It is not bad to have a bath early in the morning but it is wrong to think that one can attain God through it. Meen sada jall mein rahey. The fish remains at all the times in water. Then it should attain God easily. It is not my motive to criticise anyone. I only ment, that God is present within you. All that you need is to seek the shelter of Poorna Satguru who can bless you for attaining Him. Kahain Kabir bheidi liya, Pall mein dait lakhat. Sahib says that an expert in this field can help a devotee attain God within a moment. If torturing the body through austerities could help one attain God, those suffering from painful diseases would have attained Him easily. Nehin pran mein nehin pind mein, Na Brahmand akash mein. He is not to be found, in pranas (vital force), body and the sky even. Na main brehkuti bhanwar gufa mein, Nehin nabhi ke pass mein. Fixing concentration at Trehkuti or listening to the musical notes in Bhanwar gufa can’t help one attain Him. He is not to be found near the navel region as well. Then where is His abode? Khoji hoye turat mil jaun, Ik pall ki talash mein. Kah-hin Kabir suno bhayi sadho, sub swanson ki swans mein. Sahib says that he who makes a search for Him like a true devotee, can attain Him within a moment. He is present within every breath. That is to say, the soul resides within the breath and Parampurush resides within the soul. Satguru Bhakti–Uniqueness 7 1. None has seen the vision of Brahm Our Vedas and the Shastras hold different views about God. The Vedas are considered as the oldest scriptures of the world. Six Shastras were produced out of the four Vedas, 18 Puranas were produced out of these 6 Shastras and 128 Upnishads were produced out of these 18 Puranas. Sahib has spoken about all. About the Vedas he says— Pratham kahey Rigved bakhani, Nirakar parmeshwar mani. Nirlepon so alakh agochar, Niralamb so jaan brahmbar. According to Rigved, God is formless and away from worldly maya. He can’t be recognised through Indriyas. Duivatiye Atharvan bhashat hoyi, niralamb nirlep na koyi. Nehin nirgun nehin sargun kaheu, Jo koyi mara mukat so baiu. Jaise pann briksh se toota, Pheri na so taruvar mein joota. Aiso jeev mara yakbara, Bahuri nehin ta te tann dhara. According to the Athrav Ved, God is neither Sagun nor Nirgun. He who dies, achieves salvation. After death, none can attain the human body again. It is just like the case of a leaf that can’t be fixed at its original place after falling down. Moreover, this Athrav Ved is taking the Karmas alone as everything. Tritya yajur us kahey bahori. In donon ki mati bheyi bhori. 7 8 Sahib Bandgi Sargun Brahm Narayan hoyi. Khir samudar shayan ker soyi. Chauthe saam kah puni matt apna. Yeh sub jano jhuth kalpna. Nehin Sagun nehin Nirgun dev. Nehin darishti gochar ko bheva. According to Samved, the soul itself is God. It doesn’t take God as Sagun or Nirgun. Thus, we see that some call God as Sagun, some call Him as Nirgun, some take the soul itself as God whereas some take the Karmas alone as God. When the Vedas express different views about God, how can the common man have a clear picture of Him. Man has been under this misconception right from the beginning. He is unable to clear this misconception. Six Shastras were produced, out of these four Vedas. Many great Rishis contributed in this regard. They all did not hold similar views. Sahib has thrown light on these as well. Pratham Mimansa shaster achari. Karam thapi niju geyan uchari. Bhoot bhavya bratt manak joyi. Karam adhin jaan sub soyi. Karam adheen geyan aru yoga. So jus karey bhog tus bhoga. Karam swatantar sarav pergavai. Jo jus karai so tus phall pavai. It was jaimini Rishi who produced Mimansa Shastera from Yajurved. It speaks about Karmas alone. Duitiya baad vayeshesh vedanta. Karam nahin janiye sutanta. Karam to kaal ki bus mein hoyi. Satguru Bhakti–Uniqueness 9 Kall paye karam karai na koyi. Ta te yeh nishche kari mano. Karam kal ki vash mein jano. Kaal hi Brahm aur nehin koyi, Kaal paye aj hari her hoyi.
