Pre-Sale Inspection: Thursday 17th September: 9.30am – 12.00noon This will be carried out by a panel appointed by the Northern Area Texel Sheep Breeders, together with a Veterinary Surgeon. Vendors must ensure that all entries are penned and available for inspection from 9.00am onwards and not later than 12.00noon. On the afternoon prior to the sale you are invited to view the sheep on offer. Refreshments will be available 2. The sale will be held in strict catalogue order. Substitutes (which should be notified to the Auctioneers by 10th September) should be clearly marked with a red dot. 5. Vendors must ensure that the lot number and ear number shown in the catalogue correspond. 6. Café and Restaurant facilities will be available at the Livestock Centre throughout the day. 7. BIDDING: the highest bidder shall be the purchaser and any dispute which arises shall be settled by the Auctioneer who shall regulate the bidding and have the right to refuse a bid. 2. GUINEAS: All sheep at the sale shall be sold in guineas unless otherwise stated. 3. PURCHASER’S RESPONSIBILITY: Each lot shall be at the sole risk of the purchasers at the fall of the hammer. 4. PAYMENT: All purchases shall be paid for on the day of sale direct to the Auctioneers before removal and no lot to be removed without written authority of the Auctioneers. Cheques will not be accepted unless prior arrangements with the Auctioneers have been made. Where a purchaser defaults in payment, the Auctioneers reserve the right to re-sell the lot and to charge the purchaser with any expenses and loss incurred by the reason of the failure of the Purchaser to complete his purchase. The Auctioneers reserve the right to charge interest at the current bank overdraft rate on any outstanding accounts from the day of sale unless special arrangements have been made with the Auctioneer in this respect. 5. DESCRIPTION: The descriptions are supplied by the vendors who alone are responsible for details and accuracy. The auctioneers will not be answerable in respect of any errors which may occur in the catalogue. The Auctioneers may make an intimation of any alteration or modification of the catalogue description of any lot immediately before the asking for bids. The Auctioneer shall be the sole and executive judge of the fact of such intimation and the terms in which it is made. 6. Any dispute over warranties, pedigrees or matters not dealt with specifically in these conditions will be settled in accordance with the rules of the British Texel Sheep Society. 7. The Sales Committee may appoint, at their discretion, an arbitrator acting under the Arbitration Acts for the time being in force, in order to resolve any dispute. In each case the person having the reference shall have full power to include in his award provisions for costs and expenses including the keep and transport of the animal. 8. Without prejudice to the discretion of any person making an award as aforesaid, the purchaser shall be responsible for the cost of returning the animal to the sale yard or elsewhere at the Auctioneers’ discretion and the vendor shall pay reasonable lairage until collection of that lot. 9. Purchasers are responsible for ascertaining the genotype of individual sheep from the vendors. SOCIETY SHOW AND SALE CONDITIONS 1. All sheep to be from Maedi Visna Accredited Flocks and must be accompanied by the relevant documentation. 2. All female sheep MUST BE FULLY REGISTERED and all male sheep to be fully registered or ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION with the British Texel Sheep Society. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by a Registration Certificate or Ram Identity Docket. 3. No dressing, artificial whitening, clipping or excessive use of dips on the fleeces of the sheep will be permitted. An Inspector will be present at the Sale with authority to disqualify any sheep, in his opinion, misrepresenting Breed Society Rules right up to the point of Sale and any consignor not adhering to the rule will have his entire consignment rejected. THE DECISION OF THE INSPECTOR SHALL BE FINAL. 4. All sheep will be subject to a Veterinary Inspection. Any animal or group of animals which do not reach the Veterinary Inspection standard will not be eligible for Sale. The decision of the Veterinary Surgeon will be final and any animal or group of animals failed will be removed for the Sale and forfeit the entry fee. 5. The Society requires that all pedigree Texel sheep carry two different forms of identification. Pedigree Texels must be identified with a tag plus a tattoo, 2 separate tags, a tag plus a bolus or bolus and a tattoo. Boluses will be checked at inspection but the sales committee advise members not to rely on a bolus. Any animal with indistinct identification or carrying only one form of identification will be rejected. 6. (a) All rams and ram lambs are warranted by the Vendor capable of natural and effective service within three calendar months from the date of sale (the male fertility guarantee period).
