Clyde Waterfront GNS: Clydeside Community Park/Dalmuir • Clyde waterfront study identified Clydeside Community park as a priority project. • CCP/Dalmuir Study focussed on links and gaps in network, particularly linking park and hospital grounds and bringing into active use. • Another focus is Duntocher Burn corridor. • CSGN funding awarded but land ownership issues preventing implementation. Kilpatrick Hills • Underused green space resource on edge of urban area. • Strategy and action plan developed. • Management group established to take forward implementation of projects. WD green network benefits • Financial and project officer contributions to GN strategies. • Important partner in developing green network and open space approach in SDP/LDP – green network opportunity mapping. • Awareness raising – particularly IGI. Future direction • Practical assistance/value for money Assistance with open space audits and strategies Supplementary Guidance • Best practice Management and maintenance regimes Open space standards • Aligning agendas Employment/employability Funding • Funded from a general ‘Payments to other bodies’ budget line. • Currently an ‘under the radar’ contribution. • Has been argued for on basis of ‘value for money’ rather than support for Green Network. • Commitment beyond one year unlikely. .
