Greek Myths Role Cards

Greek Myths Role Cards This activity is in development. Please contribute any suggestions and corrections plus better pictures if you find some or your pupils can produce any. We are in the process of producing a simpler text for another card set and adapting it to a hot seating activity. We are also producing other activities around specific stories e.g. Jason which can be found on the work in progress page. The webaddress for this activity is: http://www.collaborativelearning.org/greekmythrolecards.pdf These can be used in a variety of ways. So far we have produced 24 cards based around several stories: Arion and the Dolphins, Perseus and Medusa, Jason and the Golden Fleece, Pandora’s Box, Theseus and the Minotaur, Daedalus and the fall of Icarus, Orpheus and Eurydice, Heracles, and his Labours, Prometheus and the Creation of Men. We need to increase the number to produce a class set of thirty. The cards have information about characters, but not their names. The cards can be grouped into story families. The first activity will probably produce some clues. This will depend on how you organised the cards, since they are not colour coded at the moment. You can colour code them by putting coloured dots on them. You can either organise them so that they have at least two members of a story group to- gether, or you can mix them so they do not meet any related story characters. If characters can find their other family members they will have the bones of their story. They will also find out their names. http://collaborativelearning.org/greekmythrolecards.pdf Greek Myths Character Card Game Hello! These are And this three sisters. Hello! My am three is the king of the They are gods. I am a dog and sisters. We have always have three heads. one eye and one arguing tooth between us Everyone in the class takes or is given a character card. Everyone should read the information on the card two or three times. You do not have to remember the card word for word, but have a good idea about the information on it. Put the card in your pocket, or out of sight, and then find someone else in the room with the same coloured card as you. Pretend to be the character, and introduce your- self in role to your new partner: eg. "Hello! I am a ship. I took Jason to find the Golden Fleece". Your partner should do the same to you. Remember, if either of you get stuck, you can take out your card and look at it. But only if you are stuck. Listen carefully to each other. Now go to find another two people with the same colour card as you. Now you are four, you have to introduce your partner to the others and they have to introduce each other to you. eg: "Hello! Can I introduce you to my partner She is the daughter of King Aetis...” http://collaborativelearning.org/greekmythrolecards.pdf http://collaborativelearning.org/greekmythrolecards.pdf too, andmankind willneedher alot. and gavefirebacktomankind.Zeus demanded yourhusbandopenit. He that he took all the fire away from that hetookallthefireaway the gods.
