The World University Games is an international sporting and cultural festival, staged every two years in a different city around the world, representing both winter and summer competitions. As an international multi-sport competition, it is second only to the Olympic Games. ABOUT USA WUG TEAM The United States of America World University Games Team (USA WUG) is an organization overseen by the United States International University Sports Federation (US-IUSF). Members of the USA WUG Team compete globally as representatives of the United States in university-level sports competitions organized by FISU, the governing body of university sport worldwide. US-IUSF represents the official governing body for the United States at all FISU events, including the World University Games, World University Championships, and FISU America Games. ABOUT THE 2021 LUCERNE GAMES The 2021 Winter World University Games will be held in Lucerne, Switzerland, January 21-31, 2021. The event marks the 30th edition of the Winter World University Games. The Games expect to have over 3,000 athletes from over 60 countries competing in 10 different sports. Dr. Gary Cunningham leads US-IUSF membership, and also serves as Chef de Mission for all World University Games competitions. A comprehensive athletic event management company, BTI Events facilitates and provides logistical support for all types of athletic teams traveling to domestic and international events, including U.S. athletes competing in the World University Games.
