Lawson picked up her conference-leading 11th double-double of the season in USF’s only game of the week, a 64-47 win at Cincinnati on Jan. 30. The senior center poured in 22 points on 64.7 percent (11-of-17) shooting from the field, while also grabbing 12 rebounds in the victory. L ast Wee K IN T H E BIG EAST Smith helped lead the Red Storm to a perfect 2-0 mark on the week which extended the team’s winning streak to five games. She finished as the team’s leading scorer JANUARY averaging 18.0 points, shooting 41.2 percent (14-of-34) from the field and went 8-of-8 Tue. 26 VILLANOVA, 50 at LOUISVILLE, 53 RUTGERS, 36 at 1/1 CONNECTICUT, 73 from the free throw line. The rookie led the Red Storm to a 68-65 victory at Syracuse on Jan. 27, (XL-CBS C) scoring a career- and game-high 28 points, including knocking down the game-tying and go-ahead Wed. 27 ST. JOHN’S, 68 at SYRACUSE, 65 free throws with seven seconds left in regulation. She scored 18 points in the second half. Smith hit PROVIDENCE, 59 at 3/3 NOTRE DAME, 84 8-of-8 free throws, while also notching four rebounds and two steals.
