Interior of the Teatro Cavallerizza. The house where Mauro Mercadante today. Giuliani died, in the Chiaia quarter. Located at the Piazza Municipio, the Teatro Mercadante (MapRef-6)was known before 1870 as the Teatro del Fondo. Emilia Giuliani performed here twice. In the early Nineteenth century it was an important opera theatre. Located in the San Ferdinando quarter, it hosted the first performances of various operas by Gioacchino Rossini and Gaetano Donizetti. MapRef-6b. No. 59 Via Francesco Girardi, the Chiesa di Santa Maria ad Ogni Bene dei Sette Dolori, where the funeral of Michele Giuliani, Mauro’s father, took place in Sep. 1823. The baptismal font on the right is probably where Luigi Guglielmi was baptized. MapRef-13 No. 77 Vico Giardinetto, in the Montecalvario quarter, where Gaetano Guglielmi and Maria Sogner lived around 1807–1810. 5 MapRef-15a. and b. No. 52 Vico Lungo Avvocata, now called Via Giovanni Brombeis, in the Avvocata quarter. This is where Giovan Battista Guglielmi, the first of Emilia and Luigi Guglielmi’s children, was born in 1835. MapRef-16 A. Piazza Dante. This graceful façade stands opposite the Church of San Domenico Soriano, where Giovan Battista Guglielmi was baptized. It is in the in the Avvocata quarter. 6 MapRef-16 B.
