A SHOW OF RESILIENCE The NDP 2021 Show can be described as a “Show of Resilience”. It is not only a show or performance about stories of resilience. More importantly, it is a showcase of the spirit of resilience of our people. OUR STRENGTH The show is adopting a live-virtual format to bring people together TOGETHER safely. PARADE AND This year’s Parade and Ceremony is a traditional parade marked by the return of the Colours Party, together with the CEREMONY Military and Home Team supporting contingents. Joining the parade virtually are 21 civilian contingents from across our schools as well as social and economic organisations, in addition to the 9 contingents on site. Defending our land, securing our waters and guarding our skies. This year’s parade seeks to not only inspire confidence in Total Defence, but also pay tribute to our Everyday Heroes amid our fight against COVID-19. ACT Act One opens with an animated film that introduces six characters from the past and present, and their 1 OUR HOPES AND aspirations for the future. The first performance kicks off with a high energy rhapsody about the hopes ASPIRATIONS and aspirations of our youths from different generations. PERFORMERS: Benjamin Kheng, Nick Z, Shabir, Aisyah, Inch, Shye, Institute of Technical Education, National University of Singapore, Republic Polytechnic, with animated graphics by Nanyang Polytechnic students. ACT THE 2 CHALLENGES WE FACE Act Two is a reflection of the challenges we have faced, and our pillars of support which we fall back on in times of difficulty. The animated film takes us through the challenges and setbacks faced by the characters. We will see how the characters are supported by their family and friends, as the act wraps up on a warm and uplifting tone. PERFORMERS: Aisyah, Yung Raja, Benjamin Kheng, Singapore SOKA Association and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. ACT THE STRENGTH 3 FROM WITHIN Act Three will showcase our strength from within. Through the characters from the animated films, we will see how our previous generations have overcome their share of obstacles. This Act will also feature familiar vernacular songs in celebration of our Singapore Spirit. PERFORMERS: Shabir, The Freshman, Alemay, Sezairi, People’s Association, Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) and children choir from MindChamps PreSchool Singapore. ACT OUR STRENGTH 4 TOGETHER Act Four is an affirmation of our strength together and a renewed spirit as we take on the future as a nation. We will see the aspirations of ordinary Singaporeans, and the things they do for their fellow countrymen. Team Singapore athletes will take centre stage, followed by a performance of our NDP 2021 theme song that is integrated with a virtual dance performance by secondary school students. The Act will culminate in a grand finale, with all performers and spectators enjoying a medley of familiar national songs, reciting the pledge and singing the national anthem, against the backdrop of a spectacular fireworks display.
