industrial areas – In the Fehmarn Belt Region INTRODUCTION The importance of a well-functioning infrastructure is imperative for any parts of a society and especially in these years where there has been a shift from traditional manufacturing to more sophisticated transport and logistics services. With the EU 2030 climate target of a reduction of 1 the CO2 emissions where transport also plays a significant part it is clear that if companies can save both time and money through smarter services in combination with new infrastructure they need to be able to identify areas where they can develop their businesses in order to fulfill future obligations towards the climate target. The infrastructure of the region is heavily influenced by and connected to the axis between Copenhagen and Hamburg. Road and rail infrastructure
