The following report provides a statistical analysis of the conduct and outcome of the election. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to the many groups and individuals who contributed to the successful management of such a major event. Candidates and political parties are to be commended for the high level of co-operation they afforded to the Commission. On election day the Commission employed well over 8000 staff in polling booths, pre-poll centres and mobile booths spread far and wide across the state. The Commission’s permanent staff, Returning Officers and regular casuals worked calmly, tirelessly and efficiently in the lead up to and throughout the election to ensure a well orchestrated and highly professional event.
