I am a 2008 graduate from Moravian College where I was an all-league player. I also captained for 4 summers the Pennsylvania Stoners/FC Sonic in the NPSL which included 2 League Titles, 2 Final 4 Births and 1 National Championship. Besides my playing career, I have assistant coached at both Muhlenberg College and my alma mater Moravian. This past summer, I trained and played with a men’s team based out of Reading, Pennsylvania called the Philadelphia Fury. This team was coached by Joe Ricci, father of Andrew Ricci. I had the privilege of learning about Andrew as a player and an individual over the summer as he trained regularly with the team. Having seen Andrew Ricci for the entire summer, I was very impressed with his abilities. Physically, Andrew is about 5’8 but quickness, strength and a low center of gravity help him to overcome his lack of height. He has good skill with both feet and is confident in his abilities. I believe that he is technical enough to keep possession as a central player while also quick enough to play out wide or up front in the Division 3 College game. Having seen him for the summer, I was most impressed with his mental qualities. He has a good head for the game as he always seems to get into good spots on the field finding the ball at his feet often and connecting with many teammates. In just a few practices he got comfortable with the increased speed of play and toughness that comes along with playing with College players. His willingness to work hard to pressure and win the ball back was evident in every session he competed in. He also brought many leadership qualities through his work rate as well as communication with and without the ball. His attitude to improve and learn from better players was impressive and set him apart among the other high school players who trained with the team. Having played with Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 players and having coached at both Division 3 and Division 1, I believe that Andrew would be an absolute asset to any Division 3 program in the country. If you would like to talk further regarding Andrew I can be reached at [email protected] or on my office phone at 610-758-6135. All the best, Ryan Hess Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach Lehigh University [email protected] 610-758-6135 .
