His Neighbor Phil: A Film and Panel Discussion (with Q&A) for Families and Caregivers of people with Dementia Tuesday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. A Story of Love, Devotion and Alzheimer's Disease SYNERGY HomeCare is proud to present His Neighbor Phil, the story of Harvey (Daniel Roebuck), a man whose wife Mary (Stephanie Zimbalist) has early onset Alzheimer's disease. The film depicts the effects of the disease not only on Mary but also the entire family and their community. While the film deals honestly with the realities of the disease, it focuses most of its attention on the tireless work of the caregivers. The film stars nationally known actors Stephanie Zim- balist (Remington Steele), Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Lost, Glee), Ellen Dolan (As the World Turns), Oscar nomi- nee Sally Kellerman (M*A*S*H) and Nashville recording artist Ashley Hewitt (Elle: A Modern Cinderella Story). "We wanted the film to be a true telling of what families go through when Alzheimer's or other dementia symptoms be- come part of their life," writer/director Scott Thompson said. "But even more than that, we wanted to show the truth that love outlasts even the worst realities of life, including Alzheimer's disease and that it is love which sustains them when everything else seems to be gone." The Panel Discussion and Q & A Session: Following the film, there will be a panel discussion and question and answer period during which the audience can get information from the panelists about resources available to help with the care of their loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease and any general questions they may have. The panelists are Gordon Wall, President and owner of Synergy HomeCare of East Haven, Bernadette DiGiulian, Geriatric Care Manager of Elder Caring, L.L.C, Cherie Larson-Strucaly, Volunteer Pro- gram Manager at the Agency on Aging of South Central CT, and Maria Tomasetti, South Central Regional Director of the Alzheimer’s Association.
