PETTIGO & TULLYHOMMON Pettigo is a small picturesque village on the border of Co Donegal and Fermanagh. It is bisected by the Termon River which forms the border between Donegal in the Republic of Ireland and Fermanagh which is in Northern Ireland. The portion of the village in Northern Ireland is officially called TDeIRrECmTIOoNSn TO T PETrTIaGO ils Tullyhommon, but is locally know as “High Street” Pettigo Village & Tullyhommon, Co. Donegal. due to its hillside position overlooking the village. The village is situated in the midst of an area abundant with rivers, lakes, forestry and boglands, all just waiting to be enjoyed. It has a quality scenic environment and is officially designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and an area of special scientific interest. For the wildlife enthusiast there is plenty to see and do while exploring this unspoilt and remote part of Donegal. DIRECTIONS TO PETTIGO From Donegal Town: take the N15 (signposted for Sligo) to Laghey. Turn left after Petrol Station. At T-junction turn right and immediately left onto Pettigo Road – R232. Arrive in Pettigo after 21Km. From Sligo Town: take the N15 (signposted for Lifford) continue forward entering Drumcliffe, Grange, Cliffoney, follow road taking the exit marked Ballyshannon/Belleek. At T-junction turn right. Go straight through roundabout following the road into Belleek continue up Main St through Village. Continue on A alongside Lough Erne until veering off left onto B136 to Pettigo. WALKING TRAILS The countryside around Pettigo offers the opportunity for both long and short walks through pleasant and scenic landscapes. In these Route Cards, you will find information about specially chosen trails, ranging from 1Km to 12Km. The trails have been specially selected to take advantage of quiet country bye-roads offering scenic views and local heritage. The routes that are solely on country lanes are also suitable for cycling.
