Page 2 Volume 20, Issue 1 A Proud Moment for a Louisiana Rosie On October 20, 2018, Rosie Beulah Dugas of LA was honored at the National World War II Muse- um in New Orleans. Surrounded by friends and family members, including her daughter, Rosebud Max- ine Bourque, the museum presented Beulah with a large, framed copy of a photograph of herself during the time she worked as a welder on ships in New Orleans. The photo and Beulah’s story are featured in the museum’s traveling exhibit entitled “The Pelican State goes to War: Louisiana in WW II,” and also in a classroom guide that can be downloaded from the museum’s website. Congratulations, Beulah! 2019 Convention How-To Information Registration: Mail the form on page 3 with your check, or register online. Meal reservations received after May 17, 2018 and “walk-ins” who have not pre-registered can only be accepted on a space-available basis. If you must cancel your registration, re- quests for reimbursement must reach Treasurer Jody Valet at the address on page 3 by May 24, 2019. Hotel information: Special room rates are available at Isle of Capri Casino Hotel, 1777 Isle Parkway, Bettendorf, Iowa 52722. The rate for 1-4 persons per room on Friday and Saturday, is $99.99 per night, plus taxes and fees, for double queen beds or single king bed. This includes an extensive breakfast buffet at the Farmer’s Pick restaurant in the hotel. This state-of-the-art hotel is providing a separate registration in their North Tower for our Rosie convention, so remember to enter in the North Tower! To make your hotel reservation, call the hotel directly at 1-800-843-4753. Be sure to say you are with the American Rosie the Riveter Association. If you would like special accessibility, walk-in shower, or have specific needs, please call our representa- tive, Ann, at (563) 441-7115. If you want to arrive early or stay late, there is a special room rate of $66.99 per night for nights be- fore or after the weekend. Breakfast is not included in this non-weekend rate, and rooms are based on availability. These special prices are assured through May 28, 2019. A credit card will be required to make the reservation and to check in when you arrive at the hotel. Electric scooters and wheelchairs will be available on site! The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi, a heat- ed pool, hot tub, and $10 free casino play for each registered guest.
