Dear Belle II Spokespersons

Dear Belle II Spokespersons

Dear Belle II Spokespersons, We, members of Osaka University (RCNP), Gifu University, University of Miyazaki, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Kyoto University, Showa Pharmaceutical University, Tohoku University, and Yamagata University, would like to join the Belle II collaboration by forming a consortium (NPC II). 1) Statement of interests The unexpected and surprising discoveries of narrow-width mesons such as X(3872), Z+(4430) and others from the Belle made us realize the high potential of the B factory for the study of hadron physics. Our research interests are studies of had Hyperon-Hyperon (YY) and YN interactions, exotic mesons and molecule states, glue balls, fragment functions to stable and un-stable hadrons with high statistics. Especially, we are interested in the reconfirmation of charged tetra-quark candidate, Z+(4430), and the search for its neutral partner. Furthermore, the double charm production reported by Belle suggests the possible production of flavor exotic meson with ccūđ quarks, Tcc. The exploration of such exotic mesons is of great interest, and Belle II is the best facility for the study. We are also interested in hardware and electronics development for Belle II because we have many common problems to be solved for future high-rate experiments at J-PARC and LEPS2/Spring-8. 2) Self introduction We formed a group of people in Japanese Nuclear Physics community, who are interested in analyzing Belle data for hadron physics and joined the collaboration in March 2009. With great helps from the Belle collaboration, we started to analyze the data and convinced the high statistics data taken with a minimum biased trigger are very valuable for the study of hadron physics. 3) Area to which we would like to contribute Our possible main contributions to the Belle II collaboration are quality assurance work while the construction of CDC and to introduce new research themes and methods in hadron physics. We would like to also contribute to the development of electronics for Belle II, especially the ones which can be used at J-PARC and LEPS2/Spring-8. As service works for the Belle II experiment, we would like to suggest: quality assurance in CDC construction works. some basic software works. support for test experiments for detector R&D at RCNP(proton beam), LEPS/Spring-8(photon beam), Tohoku (electron and photon beams), and J-PARC. participation in shifts. Amount of manpower, equipment to be committed We are willing to contribute the following manpower: RCNP, Osaka University: 1.2 FTE Tokyo Institute of Technology: 0.9 FTE Gifu University: 0.6 FTE Kyoto University:0.6 FTE University of Miyazaki: 0.6 FTE Showa Pharmaceutical University: 0.3 FTE Tohoku University: 0.3 FTE Yamagata University: 0.3 FTE 4) Current commitments and future plans We are actively working on the fixed target experiments at LEPS/Spring-8, Hadron hall/J-PARC, Hermes/Desy, and LNS/Tohoku. We foresee many synergy effects between these experiments and the Belle II in terms of both physics researches and detector and electronics developments. We hope our participation to the Belle II collaboration will trigger to attract more people from Nuclear Physics community. 5) Names of References Toru Iijima Nagoya University Shoji Uno KEK Kenkichi Miyabayashi Nara Women’s University 6) Contact person Takashi Nakano Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Osaka University 10-1 Mihogaoka, Ibaraki, Osaka 567-0047 fax: +81-6-6879-8899 phone: +81-6-6879-8938 email: [email protected] 7) e-mail addresses of individuals Fisrt name Last name Institution Email address Kazuma Nakazawa Gifu Univ.
