What a wise choice that was! From the beginning Arrow (who was known as ASparty) was a standout as a retriever, his physical structure and character. We have enjoyed Arrow and his drive, his sweetness, his intelligence and his “friend to all” attitude. Arrow has done well in the show ring with a Group 3 and numerous Owner Handler groups as well. Judges love his silhouette and his fluid movement. But then he decided he had enough of the dog shows so we let him do what he enjoys the most—FIELD! Arrow loves to be the pickup dog for Tower Shoots and then excels at searching the fields with the hunters for the escapees. He is a working machine and loves the game. Playing the MH game I have to be on my toes as he is fast! Arrow is a love and is my favorite. I wanted a dog with the intensity of his grandmother Zoey and I got just what I wanted and more. Austin, the one my husband said “we are keeping that puppy” right after his very first breath and puppy squeal. He thrived right after that miraculous birth and you would never know he had entered our lives in such an emergent way. I had prayed the day the pregnancy was confirmed for a quiet dog. One that was trainable, one that was easy to live with and one that could fulfill dual roles in the field with me and the show ring with Sarah. I got just what I asked for. Austin showed early on that he could run with the Labradors in the field. He is honest and laid back in training as well as at a trial, but once his name is called at the line he could and often did pull high scores and earn ribbons along with the Labradors. On many occasions his scores were the highest. His technique always made me sure of his natural ability and style. He earned his Junior Hunter in one very short Alaskan summer. I have always trusted him, and he has never let me down. He was trained through to senior, but his show debut was calling, then he was off with Sarah: Their show career began in May of 2017... He completed his championship at Woofstock, then proceeded to win his very first Group One in June 2017. He made history by becoming the first liver Flat-coated Retriever to receive a RBIS! It was truly great to be ringside as the judge was going around, scanning each dog, judging them all and hearing the crowd’s cheers as the judge slowly lifted her hand and pointed to Austin! Truly an amazing day, Austin and Sarah both have been all over the country and placed in many strong groups since. He shows his heart out each and every time he steps into the ring. Sarah and Austin are honestly magical to watch in the ring.
