INDY ELEVEN QUOTE SHEET FC TULSA 0 : 2 INDY ELEVEN WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2021 ONEOK FIELD – TULSA, OKLA. INDY ELEVEN INTERIM HEAD COACH MAX ROGERS On the importance of tonight’s victory: “A real positive to get the three points. Obviously, we have to continue to add to that and push on from here, but the players deserved this result for the work that they've put in. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had some harsh results, and it's a good feeling now that we have one go our way, but we want to continue that. We've got to stretch our focus quickly to Atlanta on Sunday.” On how his team finished off the match: “Yeah, I’m really pleased in the lads that came into the game to sort of see it out and add that extra freshness, they were brilliant. Peter [Vassell] scores, and we’re so delighted to see him get that first goal with us, and we hope that will give him a lot of confidence ahead. And then you have Jeremiah [Gutjahr], Rece [Buckmaster], [Neveal] Hackshaw, and A.J. [Cochran] come in and perform their roles well, too. “And we spoke about keeping that concentration after we score, so that was important to get that done tonight. For me that's what it just comes down to, the concentration, and making sure we don't sit in too deep. So yes, it was good to flip the switch, as it were, and for us to get that second goal.” On how the turf condition at ONEOK Field affected the play: “It's almost like you have to play two different games, you know, from half to half. In the first half we were obviously able to sort of build up from our own half, through the middle third, into the final third, but then obviously in the end we probably just didn't create enough chances. “In the second half you’re trying to build up through that hard part of the field, but it was tough to deal with. I don’t know, maybe we didn’t adapt to that quick enough, but it was hard for guys, you saw them out there slipping and sliding on that sod. But that’s the conditions here and now we know what to deal with the next time we have to come here away.” On securing the clean sheet and the play of goalkeeper Eric Dick: “The defensive effort, it was great, was really pleased with that. There's a whole team that gets a shutout, you know. It's not just on the backline on the goalkeeper, it starts from the forwards and includes everybody. For the most part everyone worked hard to help get that done tonight. To be fair, Tulsa I think was disappointed that they didn't score because they did get in some dangerous positions, but Eric made some good stops and did his job back there when he was called on.” .
