The Austrian multi-percussionist is credited “Rusalka Fantasy” for turning classical solo percussion into an event and his Suite from Rusalka, Op. 114 (arr. by Manfred Honeck) performance at “Klassik am Odeonsplatz”, one of Germany’s DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH most famous open-air highlights, is no exception. Winner of the Suite for Variety Orchestra coveted Würth-prize of the Jeunesses Musicales Germany and – Encores – the Bernstein Award of the Schleswig-Holstein music festival, LEROY ANDERSON Grubinger demonstrates his versatility with works by Antonín “The Typewriter” Dvořák, Dmitri Shostakovich, Bruno Hartl and Tan Dun, who wrote The Tears of Nature specifically for him. Performing at RICHARD STRAUSS a breakneck pace, Grubinger shows once more that he is “a from the Rosenkavalier Suite virtuoso beyond believe” (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
