
HESSLE FORESHORE Purpose of the project Essential works to reinforce, strengthen and stabilise embankment supporting the railway track running along the Riverside Walkway parallel to the Humber, preventing further movement and potential damage. Duration of works Works are anticipated to be completed in January 2021, including installation of a 138m long, 20m deep pile wall. This will require temporarily closing a section of the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail (see photo for footpath closure points), in order to protect the safety of the local public and environment while works are underway. As it is not possible to provide a safe diversion during the scope of the works, pedestrians are encouraged use public transport to bypass this part of the Yorkshire Wolds Way, or return at a later date to when works are complete. End benefit Stabilisation of the railway embankment carrying the Hull to Selby line from erosion due to the Humber.
