Jean-Ian Filiatrault 2019-20 REGULAR-SEASON RECAP SEASON NOTES 2019-20 COLORADO AVALANCHE TEAM NOTES AVS PLAYOFF BOUND FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR; POST THIRD-HIGHEST POINTS PERCENTAGE SINCE MOVING TO DENVER The Avalanche finished second in the Central Division and the Western Conference with 92 points in 70 games…The Avs ended two points behind St. Louis (94) but played one fewer game than the Blues when the regular season was paused on March 12 and eventually concluded…Colorado’s 37 regulation wins—the first tiebreaker—were four more than the next closest Western Conference team (St. Louis 33)…The Avs’ 92 points tied Tampa Bay for third in the NHL behind only the Blues and Boston Bruins (100)…The Avalanche clinched a playoff berth for the third straight year, which ranks as the third-longest run in franchise history…The Nordiques/Avalanche made 11 straight trips to the postseason from 1994-95 to 2005-06 and Quebec made seven straight from 1980-87…Colorado’s .657 points percentage this season was its third highest since relocating to Denver, trailing only the 2000-01 team (.720) and the 2013-14 squad (.683). ROAD WARRIORS Colorado led all teams in road wins (24) and road points (50) this season…The 24 victories equaled the second-most away wins in franchise history, two shy of the record set in 2013-14…This year’s Avalanche team played four fewer road contests than that 2013-14 squad…The Avs, who had three road trips of five or more games for just the second time in franchise history (also 1999-00), went a combined 11-4-1 on those three trips.
