The Niassa National Reserve is twice the size of Kruger National Park in South Africa, and has the highest concentration of wildlife making it a unique safari experience offering guests a unique opportunity to experience one of the African continent's 'last wild places'. Eight luxury tents are discreetly situated a little way back from the banks of the Lugenda River beneath towering fig trees, each with its own patio deck with wide-angle views. The tents have a solid substructure and blend beautifully into the natural surrounds whilst offering every modern comfort - from king-size beds draped in romantic 4 poster mosi net, to en-suite bathrooms with ball and claw bath and power shower, double basins, ceiling fans, personal safes and hairdryers. Whether you are a photographer, birder, naturalist, or just enjoy getting in touch with nature in its rawest form, Lugenda Wilderness Camp is sure to fulfill your expectations. Experienced guides will take you out to explore this fascinating region and the wildlife it contains, by open safari vehicle, on foot, or even as part of a guided canoe safari on the Lugenda River. Each day’s activities are dependent on guest expectations and interests. Part of the experience is to slow down and savor the true spirit of Mozambique wilderness. Ask you guide to take you night-frogging or to reveal the splendor of the southern skies over Niassa National Reserve. SECTION 2: OUR TEAM’S COMMENTS ON THE PROPERTY MATCH THE CLIENT TO THE PROPERTY: Clients interested in adding something a little more to their Northern Mozambique beach holiday. The beach & bush concept works really well in the region. Transfers from Pemba to the Camp are costly. It is truly a magnificent flight that will be one of the highlights of the trip. The duration of the flight is 90 minutes, and you soar among granite rock formations and follow the Lugenda River from the air. The last time MTM were there we saw huge crocodiles and pods of hippo flying low over the river – very special.
