Each recipient receives $500 non-renewable scholarship. Must have taken the ACT, overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions. Must have a composite ACT score of 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 gpa or greater on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first- generation college students. Looking for students who are pursuing a degree that may lead to a career in the actuarial profession (relating to the statistical calculation of risk or life expectancy for insurance purposes). Available between Jan 1 and March 31 Due March 31 AISES (AMERICAN INDIAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY) BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: Open to graduating high school senior American Indians (must have proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe) pursuing a major in business, engineering, math, medicine/health administration, natural/physical sciences, technology, or education. Min 2.5 GPA, AISES member (high school dues = $25) $2,500/per year renewable scholarship. Due May 15, 2018 http://www.aises.org/scholarships AISES (AMERICAN INDIAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SOCIETY) NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND (NAVSEA) AND STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP: Open to high school seniors and undergraduate freshmen. Consists of two parts, a one-time $10,000 scholarship awarded freshman year; and an opportunity to apply for summer employment, which provides technical work experience and continued tuition assistance. http://www.aises.org/scholarships Due May 2019 ALGER, HORATIO: Exhibit integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Be a U. S. citizen. Critical financial need. If your family’s adjusted gross income is less than $55,000, be sure to check it off in addition to listing your family’s AGI in Section Two. Involvement in co-curricular & community activities required. Minimum 2.0 GPA (except where stated for specific scholarships). May be planning on beginning at a 2-year college with plans to transfer to a 4 year college. Over 100 high school seniors are awarded the National Scholarship of $25,000 and, in addition, nearly 650 students across the country are awarded the State Scholarship generally in the amount of between $6,000 and $10,000. Also, for students who apply for the scholarship and plan to attend the University of San Francisco there is one scholarship funded specifically for the University of San Francisco and the dollar amount is significantly more than the National Scholarship. For those planning on applying for and attending Santa Clara University, there are 4 Schott Family Scholarships at $50,000 matched by the university. Must have minimum 3.4 gpa. The 5 $10,000 Mel Klein Scholarships is for students planning on attending Colgate University, Columbia University, Stanford or Tulane University. 20 For those students planning on attending Ohio State University of Chicago, or Vanderbilt University, the 21 Trott Family Scholarships are valued between $30,000 $60,000. You only need to complete one application to be eligible for national/state and the Named Scholarships. Critical financial need is a requirement. Must be a U. S. citizen. Community service activities will be taken into consideration. Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity. 1020 scholarship awards of up to $10,000 available nationwide. These particular scholarships will have a rolling deadline until all awards have been given out. Applications will be reviewed monthly. AL NEUHARTH FREE SPIRIT AND JOURNALISM CONFERENCE AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: For juniors who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and who demonstrate qualities of “free spirit.” One student will be selected from each state to attend this five day all-expense paid journalism conference at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. in June. Requires letters of recommendation. Scholarships will be awarded to students who successfully complete the program. Must have a min 2.5 gpa, be currently accepted to an accredited, postsecondary college with a major in either culinary or pastry arts or be a ACFEF registered apprentice.
