July 7th—13th New York Invasive Species Awareness Week (ISAW) July 7th-13th is an annual statewide campaign sponsored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, aimed to educate and inform people about the threat of invasive species, to enhance stewardship and encourage communities to take action. To Learn of ISAW events near you, visit https://stoptheinvasionny.com/events/ Below is a list of SLELO ISAW events occurring within Oneida, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence counties. • Monday, July 8th 10am-1pm Guided Invasive Species Walk and Talk at Robert Whele State Park. Learn about swallow-wort, an invasive plant that has infested the park and enjoy breath taking views along Lake On-tario. REGISTER • Tuesday, July 9th 9am-2pm Lakeview Water Chestnut Pull. Meet at the South Sandy Creek Canoe/kayak launch located on NYS Route 3. View area map (PDF).Group will paddle into Lakeview Marsh WMA. REG- ISTER • Wednesday, July 10th 10am-12pm Rusty Round-up Westernville, NY. Come help search for & remove inva- sive rusty crayfish. Meet at the parking area by the bridge crossing over the Mohawk River inlet to Delta Lake on county route 53/Stokes-Westernville Road. REGISTER • Wednesday, July 10th 9am-12pm Riverkeeper Volunteer Training at the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center located at 44927 Cross Island Rd, Fineview, NY 13640 . $10 program fee, $7 park entrance fee.
