It is proposed to produce 25536 CUM stone from the mine by opencast method of mining. The lease area falls under Survey of India Topo-sheet no. 55 H/10 and lies between Latitudes N 20°35’25.00” to N 20°35’30.94” & Longitudes E 77°32’01.95” to E 77°32’09.85”. The applicant has applied for fresh lease on 06/02/2017 in the name of Shri Satish Pandurang Hingankarfor five years period over an area of 1.80 ha located at Brahmanwada Village, Tehsil Karanja, District Washim, Maharashtra (Annexure I). It is proposed to produce 25536 CUM stone from the mine by opencast method of mining. (iii) Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region The black stone (Basalt) is abundantly available in the area. The black stone (Basalt) material serves as a back bone for Building and other infrastructure development. It has played an important role in development of civilization and industrialization. The occurrence of stone (Basalt) in the area is proved by the way of geological exploration and its production has important role in the local infrastructure development. The proposed stone (Basalt) quarry will also marginally benefit the local people by way of direct and indirect employment. State Government is also benefitted by the mining through royalty. (iv) Demand-Supply Gap Stone (Basalt) is an essential constituent for infrastructural development projects like road, dams, bridges and building. It has high demand in Vidarbha region due to increase in industrial and other infrastructural activities. The stone is mostly consumed in the nearby construction projects. (vi) Export Possibility Not applicable as the production will be consumed within local area. (vii) Domestic / Export Markets Domestic demand is one of the chief reasons for the rapid growth of Stone (Basalt) business in India. Thus, domestic market for stone (Basalt) as building material is well established. (viii) Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project This project will generate employment for around 8 people. Priority for employment will be given to local persons. The applicant has applied for fresh lease on 06/02/2017 in the name of Shri Satish Pandurang Hingankarfor five years period over an area of 1.80 ha located at Brahmanwada Village, Tehsil Karanja, District Washim, Maharashtra (Annexure I). There is no archeological/historical monuments, defense installation within 5.0 Km radius distance. (iv) Size or magnitude of operation This is a new stone (Basalt) mine having area of 1.80 ha for the maximum production of stone (Basalt) Mineral @ 25536Cum. (v) Project description with process details (a schematic diagram/ flow chart showing the project layout, components of the project etc. should be given) a. Stone (Basalt) Mineral Open Cast Mining The mining will be carried out by semi-mechanized opencast method, which includes excavation by drilling and blasting, loading and transportation by excavator-tipper combination, stacking and finally dispatched by tippers. The capacity of the mine is 25536 Cum.This is a new stone mine having area 1.80 Ha., so top soil is present and it will be removed and spread in the safety zone for plantation purpose. Mined out stone from the mine will be transported to the crusher present within lease area and after size reduction, the stone will be transported to the buyer's location.
