DEBUTANTE BALL DRESS CODE The Debutante Ball is a formal event. Each debutante must decide on her own dress but simplicity, elegance and decorum are the keys to getting it right. The dress must be white and if the dress is strapless, it is highly recommended that it be well fitted and use is made of invisible straps. Proper heel length is determined by the final length of the gown and the height of the debutante. For ease of movement in dancing, ascending and descending stairs, the dress should be just above the ground. Shoes should be appropriate for ballroom dancing. White, silver or ivory is acceptable. An ankle strap is highly recommended for extra support. Shoes that are too high or have large platforms are not practical! The earlier these are purchased the better as it is best to practise walking in them to become familiar with dancing in them. Elbow – length white gloves are to be worn. The gloves are to be provided by the debutante. Debutante Partner’s SUIT and SHOES hire is $125 and will be hired from Grant Rule’s Mens & Ladies Fashion, Eaglehawk. This includes black tail suit, shirt, vest, bow tie, gloves and shoes. Boys will need to visit Grant at his place of business in Eaglehawk late January – early February to be measured for their suits. Money is to be paid the week before the Debutante Ball. Suits must be returned to Grant on Saturday 24th March or very early in the next week. Partners, do not remove your jacket or your tie at the Ball. .
