Each coach is carefully selected, not only for their coaching proficiency, but for their ability to create fun and positive learning environments. AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 14 AYSO United • AYSO United is AYSO’s official club program – AYSO United teams plays in the Iowa Soccer League against other “club” teams • AYSO United allows players to enjoy more advanced play, while still enjoying the benefits of AYSO and its Six Philosophies – AYSO United players will be selected through a tryout, but once on the team will play at least half of every game, and will have coaches that follow AYSO’s coaching philosophies AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 15 Very Important Player • Very Important Player (VIP) Program – For players with physical or mental disabilities that won’t allow them to participate on mainstream teams • VIP players may have Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances, visual impairments, or other conditions that limit mobility, strength, and/or comprehension • Non-disabled players assist VIP players on the field as “buddies” • No upper age limit! AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 16 Adult Soccer • Yes, parents can play too! • The adult league plays on Sunday afternoon’s on a 12U size field – No experience necessary • Cost is $120, but registration closes tomorrow – August 20th! – Internet search for “Cedar Rapids AYSO Adult League CRAAL” and you will find the instructions AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 17 Playground (05U) • AYSO Playground is our entry level program for our youngest players (4 years old) – Emphasis on individual Fundamental Motor Skill (FMS) development – Build up from FMS to 1 v 1, to 2 v 2, … – “Jamboree” or “group, one with one” format • All players in the age group meet at the same time, and must bring an adult practice partner with them – Meets no more than 60 minutes per week • First half is a combination of skills, drills, games, ... • Last half is a soccer game vs other players AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 05U Guidance • Simplified Rules • Let Them Play! – No offside – There will be very few, – No goal keepers if any, reasons to stop – No penalty kicks the fun • Mom & Dad are – No heading welcome to join their – No throw ins player on the field if they need some encouragement • All they need to know is – Don’t use your hands, and go that way! AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 19 Soccer Gear What to Buy • Players • Parents – AYSO Provides – No dress code, just be sure • Shirt (AYSO Jersey) the adult partner is able to – Wear more clothing participate in simple drills underneath the jersey if and kick a soccer ball its cold • If you have to watch – Parents Provide younger children as well • Shorts make sure you have a • Shin Guards plan on how you will do – Mandatory both at the same time • Shoes • Not allowed for players: • Socks – Jewelry, earrings, etc. • Soccer Ball (Size 3) – Casts • Water Bottle • Even if padded AYSO Region 1112 Cedar Rapids, Marion and Surrounding Areas 20 Field Map Where to Meet Meet Here Field 20 21 Game Schedule When We Play • All 05U Sessions will be on Saturday mornings. – September 09, 23, 30 • But not September 16th – October 07, 14, 21, 28 – November 04 • Girls will meet from 8:00 – 9:00 am • Boys will meet from 9:15 – 10:15 am – We will reverse these times in the Spring with boys meeting at 8:00. • AYSO will cancel games via the web site (www.ayso-cr.org) if the weather is bad. Parents will not be called. – It will feel much colder on the field than it will in town, so dress appropriately.
