The terrain is mostly mountainous and the highest mountains are : Virahayoc, Bazum, Pambak, Ghexama, Sevani, Zangezur, Vayqs Aragac is situated 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Yerevan, Aragats is a large volcano with numerous fissure vents and adventive cones. Numerous large lava flows descend from the volcano and are constrained in age between middle Pleistocene and 3000BCE. Lake Kari (Lake Qari, Armenian: Քարի լիճ) is a lake in Armenia located in the slopes of Mount Aragats mostly formed by ice and snow. Aragac Lake Kari Mount Ararat (Turkish: Ağrı Dağı; Armenian: Արարատ or Masis Մասիս, see below for its other names and etymology) is a snow-capped and dormant compound volcano in Turkey. Its major tributaries are the Akhurian, Kasagh, Hrazdan, Azat, Arpa, Vorotan and Voghdji rivers. Arax The largest rivers in north west part of the country are the Debed and Aghstev, while smaller ones include the Dzoraget and the Pambak. .
