SPRING CONCERT by FRIDESWIDE VOICES Director: Will Dawes in the North Transept of Christ Church Cathedral at 3.30 pm on Saturday, 16th March 2019. Frideswide Voices is a choir for girl choristers in Oxford, based at Christ Church Cathedral (Michaelmas Term), New College Chapel (in Hilary ) and Magdalen College Chapel (in Trinity). The choir was established in 2014 to provide opportunities for girls of chorister age to sing within the liturgy in college chapels . The girls are drawn from some 20 schools in Oxford and the surrounding area. Frideswide Voices sing weekly evensongs during term time and have also sung in Gloucester ,Salisbury, St Paul’s Cathedral and St George’s Chapel Windsor. The choir’s first residential tour to Tewkesbury Abbey and Great Malvern Priory in July 2018 was supported by the Friends .Frideswide Voices will play its part in the St Frideswide Patronal Eucharist in Christ Church Cathedral on Thursday October 18th 2018. In this Recital the Frideswide Voices will perform many of its favourite anthems.Will Dawes has directed Frideswide Voices since its inception. He was a chorister at St George’s Chapel Windsor then studied music at Edinbugh University and then Choral Conducting and Voice at the Royal Academy of Music , where he won the Thomas Armstrong Prize for Choral Direction . Will is Director of music at Somerville and at the Church of St Mary Magdalen and also a member of the award-winning Early Music Ensemble Stile Antico Programme: Tea and biscuits will be served in the North Transept at 3.30 and the concert is expected to last approximately one hour from 4.00pm TICKETS(to defray costs): Friends £13.00/Guests £15.00 Please note: Parking is NOT available.
