Mendez 7 State of Tennessee Claire Kim Governor My fellow Tennesseans, It is my honor to be the first to thank you for participating in the 67th annual Tennessee YMCA Youth in Government Conference. I am ecstatic that all of you have demonstrated such passion as delegates of this conference. Although we won't have the opportunity to walk the halls and sit in the chairs of our own legislators in one of the most magnificent functioning capitols in this nation due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, I firmly believe that Youth in Government stands as a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be involved in civic engagement. Youth in Government has been an integral part of my high school experience. Ever since my freshman year, the program has not only allowed me to learn about various aspects of our government system and have distinct outlooks on democracy, but has also empowered me to grow as an individual. I hope that this conference can provide the same experience for you all.
