B91-Buildings in the landscape Page 4 of 111 FHA604S01 Dover Court B91 - Revision C3 7 Aug 2017 610 CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS GENERALLY • Concrete: To BS 8500-2. • Mix: Designated concrete not less than GEN 1 or standard prescribed concrete not less than ST2. • Admixtures: Do not use. • Depth of foundations, bedding, haunching: Appropriate to provide adequate support and to receive overlying soft landscape or paving finishes. • Foundation holes: Neat vertical sides. • Components: Accurately positioned and securely supported. • Concrete fill: Compact as filling proceeds. • Concrete foundations exposed to view: Compact until air bubbles cease to appear on the upper surface, then weather to shed water and trowel smooth. • Temporary component support: Maintain undisturbed for minimum 48 hours. 615 SETTING COMPONENTS IN EARTH • Holes: Excavated by appropriate means to be as small as practicable. • Components: Position accurately and support securely. • Buried depth (minimum): 250 mm. • Earth fill: Ram well as filling proceeds. 630 ERECTION OF PREFABRICATED BUILDINGS/ STRUCTURES • Checking: Five days (minimum) before proposed erection date, check foundations, holding down bolts, etc. • Inaccuracies or defects in prepared bases or supplied buildings/ structures: Report immediately.
