Schaefer began laying the pieces of a championship foundation last sea- son in Starkville. He led the Bulldogs to SEC wins against Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas and Missouri before capping the year with a thrilling upset of No. 11 Georgia. Under his watch, Martha Alwal earned All-SEC honors and won the Gillom Trophy as a sophomore after leading the SEC in double-doubles, re- SEC STANDINGS bounding and blocked shots. He also added more stellar pieces to the Bulldog SEC OVERALL program as his first recruiting class rated as one of the best in program history. TEAM W L PCT. W L PCT. Building a championship program is something he has done at every stop in his coaching career, including his previous stops at Arkansas and Texas A&M.
