Please keep this guide handy, it covers the time period of January to June 2011 and contains some excellent information for healthy living and explains our new recreation program line-up. It is important to the Township that we develop pro- grams that are meaningful and appropriate for our esquimalt.ca/recreation residents and patrons. Our recreation staff works hard at creating and scheduling programs with the com- munity in mind. From young families to senior citizens, there is something for everyone at Esquimalt Parks and Recreation. Our facilities are continually being upgraded to provide more comfort and access for users. We are currently planning a re-design of the atrium in the Recreation Centre to better meet the needs of centre users. This proposed re-design includes increased seating, computer terminals, new vending machines, a water fountain, fireplace and large screen television. While strolling through Esquimalt Gorge Park, please stop in at the Japanese Garden and enjoy the upgrades, including an extension to the ornamental stream, two new bridges and a new sitting area. Also in Gorge Park, the Township has partnered with the Gorge Waterway Initiative and other municipalities to create a series of interpretive signs highlighting key features of the waterway.
