By Email 14 November 2019 Dear Sir or Madam I am a resident of Himley village a small but beautiful village located next to the historic Himley Hall part of which falls in a conservation area. I feel compelled to make my views known concerning the greenbelt and it’s importance in protecting my village. I have viewed the greenbelt site assessment for Himley, Swindon and Wombourne and am fearful that unless sites 283, 479a,335a,335b,338 remain part of the greenbelt the character of my village will change and the boundaries between villages becomes almost none existent contrary to the whole greenbelt policy of stopping urban sprawl and in this case also joining up the settlements of Wombourne, Himley and Swindon. As matters stand the new Bloor Homes Development off Bridgnorth Road is pushing the envelope as far as the proximity to Himley - any further development on site 283 in my view flouts national Green Belt Policy as it would create sprawl and join the settlement of Wombourne and Himley. I am also concerned about area 368 – this is a field near the cross roads between the A449 and the B4176 and is in close proximity to the historic Himley Hall a site of important cultural heritage and any reclassification of the land would affect this historic landscape. In addition this particular cross roads is a notorious accident hotspot – just ask the Staffordshire Police! It should also be pointed that the bus service through Himley is being threatened with removal and so there is no infrastructure to support any development in or near Himley. In the South Staffordshire Local Plan Review only Walsall and Wolverhampton have unmet housing need Dudley has not – I believe that Green belt Development is inappropriate where there is a large supply of brownfield sites that remain available and a blight on local communities – i.e. Cavendish House in Dudley! And brownfield sites in Wallheath and Wombourne and elsewhere in South Staffordshire. The countryside currently in the green belt is a haven for wildlife badgers, bats, barn owls etc if you remove the green belt you will destroy their habitat and so harm local wildlife and biodiversity, reduce air quality and create light pollution.
