CHRISTOPHER CABOT 39 Post Road Sugar Hill, NH 03586 November 16, 2017 New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee Pamela G. Monroe, Administrator 21 South Fruit Street, Suite 10 Concord, NH 03301 Dear Site Evaluation Committee: My wife and I own a weekend house in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire, and we want to be counted as opposing the construction of the Northern Pass transmission line. We urge you to determine, once and for all, that this project is not in the "public interest." From the hill where our house is located (Bronson Hill), the view stretches east over fields and forest to the village of Sugar Hill, then southerly across the valley into Kinsman Notch, the White Mountain National Forest, Cannon Mountain, the Cannon Balls and the twin peaks of Mt. Kinsman. The Northern Pass transmission line would cut directly through this unique and pristine New Hampshire landscape. The portions of it above ground, as well as the clearing and maintenance of portions buried underground, would be permanent scars on this landscape. They would forever damage the ecology, landscape, property values, and the public enjoyment ofthis historic and beautiful section ofNew Hampshire. Just drive up Rte. 117 from Franconia some morning in June during the Lupine Festival or on an October weekend and check out all the folks - from families with small children to tattooed bikers - hanging out at Polly's Pancake Parlor and taking selfies and group photos with this magnificent view behind them. And this is just a tiny segment of the long, destructive path this transmission line would wind from north to south across New Hampshire- mainly to bring electricity to Massachusetts, which doesn't really need the extra capacity in the first place, and enrich Hydro Quebec. It is not in New Hampshire's public interest. Very truly yourf ~~w{- cc: The Honorable Chris Sununu Office of the Governor The State House Concord, NH 03301 .
