Laney was one of 12 members named to the 2005-06 squad. •Sydney Crane, a freshman from Jamestown, N.C., was named to the All-ACC Academic Women’s Golf Team. Eight Tar Heels were named to the ACC Honor Roll – Shannon Boyle, Sydney Crane, Catherine Hofmann, Romi Irons, Ann Laney, Beth Marushak, Katie Miller and Brittany Walker. •Carolina carded four top-10 finishes during the spring campaign. The Tar Heels finished seventh at the ACC Championship played at Pinehurst #8 in Pinehurst, N.C. They posted an eighth-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, the first event of the spring season, tallied a ninth-place finish at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational and finished 10th at the NCAA East Regional, barely missing the cut for Nationals by just two strokes. In their other spring events, the Tar Heels placed 13th at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic and 14th at the Bryan National Collegiate. •The Tar Heels posted two top-10 finishes in the fall. Carolina was the runner-up at the Wildcat Fall Invitational and finished in eighth place at the Cougar Classic. The Tar Heels tied for 11th place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship and finished 14th at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. •All-ACC performer Ann Laney carded five top-25 finishes last year. Her top showing was a third-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, the first event of the spring campaign, where she scored her first career hole-in-one. She tied for 11th place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational and tied for 26th at the ACC Championship, both in the spring. In the fall, Laney tied for 22nd place at the Cougar Classic and tied for 23rd at the Wildcat Fall Invitational. •Katie Miller, from Jeannette, Pa., carded four top-20 performances in 2005-06. She tied for runner-up honors at the Wildcat Fall Invitational and tied for 15th place at the Cougar Classic, both played in the fall. During the spring campaign, Miller tied for 16th place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational and was the low Tar Heel at the ACC Championship, tying for 19th place. •Sydney Crane and Lauren Hunt both broke into the starting lineup in their first year as a Tar Heel.
