Bookmark not defined. Page 4 of 24 43rd ECDD (2020): Diclazepam Executive summary Diclazepam is a 2-chloro derivative of the benzodiazepine diazepam. It consists of a benzene ring fused to a diazepine ring, with an R1 methyl group substitution and two substituted chlorine groups. Diclazepam was first synthesized in the 1960s but was never registered as a therapeutic product. Diclazepam was first notified to the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) Early Warning System in 2013. It is commonly sold online as a research chemical, taken in doses of 1–4 mg (with 1–2 mg being a typical dose), and is also increasingly sold as falsified diazepam (or “street diazepam”). Diclazepam has a long elimination half-life of 42 hours, and is metabolized into the pharmaceutical benzodiazepines delorazepam, lorazepam and lormetazepam.
